Bernice | Pointed-Toe Western Boots

The western boot stopped being a costume about a decade ago.

It quietly turned into something that people wear to the office, out to dinner and round the shops without a single person commenting on it any more. Bernice keeps the pointed toe and the stacked heel that give the shape its character, but drops the tooling, the stitching and the hardware that used to make the old ones look like a costume.

Pointed toe. It extends the line of the foot and makes the whole leg read noticeably longer than a round toe does. The single detail that does the most work here.

Stacked block heel. Angled very slightly forward, the way a riding heel is, so it stays under the foot going downhill. Walkable rather than purely decorative.

Plain shaft. No tooling, no contrast stitching, no embroidery and no decorative pull straps anywhere on it. It reads as a boot rather than as a theme.

Mid-calf height. It sits high enough to tuck a slim trouser into and low enough to wear neatly under a wide one. Both ways round work equally well.

Every few years one particular shape quietly becomes the default and then simply stays there for a decade. This is what that looks like before everyone else has caught up.
